Who Will Do The Work?
The Growing Center, Inc. relies on both paid employees and volunteer labor to carry out its programs. It also has an unpaid Board of Advisors drawn from interested community members. Our staff includes an Executive Director, Associate Director, Head Grower, as well as a Horticultural Therapist. Volunteers and interns can help in a variety of ways. Some of the jobs our volunteers perform are greeting visitors, answer telephones, and maintaining the library, preparing and updating our mailing lists. Also help with the computer work, maintaining participant files, preparing newsletters and mailings, and grant and foundation funding research.

Other volunteers help with assisting HT program participants, caring for greenhouse plants and outdoor gardens, maintaining equipment and facilities, selling plants and flowers during fund raising events, delivering surplus produce to food banks and planting surplus bedding plants at local parks and community buildings.

Founder David Boyer is the Associate Director, and co- founder Linda Boyer is the Executive Director. Besides leading the grass roots development of the project, they oversee all aspects of building, financial planning, personnel hiring, volunteer scheduling, and public relations.
